Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise network modernization and data center migration initiative. This role will focus on Cisco Catalyst 9300 deployments, Cisco Nexus 5K decommissioning, network cutovers, and Cisco ACI-integrated infrastructure migrations within a production environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience in Cisco enterprise networking, switch migrations, maintenance-window implementations, and data center operations.
Project Details
  • Role Type: Contract / Project-Based
  • Location: Jersey City, NJ Onsite (Data Center Environment)
  • Duration: Multi-phase migration project
  • Schedule: Must be available for maintenance windows and after-hours cutovers as required

Responsibilities
  • Upgrade Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches to Cisco-recommended IOS-XE releases
  • Apply standardized C9300 base configurations and templates
  • Migrate existing port configurations from legacy switches to new Catalyst 9300 hardware
  • Perform onsite switch replacements and execute maintenance-window cutovers
  • Support migration of network connections from Cisco Nexus 5K environments to new Catalyst 9300 infrastructure
  • Assist with staging, validation, and deployment of network hardware
  • Coordinate and execute network migration activities tied to approved Change Requests (CRs)
  • Support Cisco ACI-connected uplink migration activities
  • Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity issues during implementation and post-cutover validation
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams to ensure successful deployment and minimal operational impact
  • Document implementation activities, migration procedures, and technical changes
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on network engineering experience
  • Strong expertise with:
    • Cisco Catalyst 9300 (CAT9K) switches
    • Cisco Nexus 5K platforms
    • Cisco IOS-XE
    • Cisco ACI environments
  • Experience with:
    • Enterprise switch refresh projects
    • Network migrations and cutovers
    • Data center networking
    • Configuration migration and deployment
    • Maintenance-window implementations
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts
  • Experience working within structured change management processes
  • Ability to work onsite and support after-hours maintenance activities when required
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCNP or CCIE certification
  • Experience with Cisco FEX environments
  • Previous enterprise data center migration experience
  • Experience supporting high-availability production networks

Compensation: Starting at $125,000 per year, with the potential for a higher offer based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
