At Switch, we don't just design, build and operate data centers๏ฟฝwe are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.
We believe that innovation isn't just about technology๏ฟฝit's about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world's most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.
The Role: Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer at Switch, you will be part of a world-class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission-critical solutions that redefine what's possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.
In this role you will support and optimize the operations of the critical infrastructure supporting IT loads in Switch Data Centers, including power, water, and cooling systems. You are also involved in developing solutions for continuous improvement in system performance and utilization, managing utility resourcing, capacity management, change management, efficiency, root cause analysis, design feedback, condition-based maintenance, end-of-life management, and various other data center lifecycle programs. Additionally, you are an on-site equipment and system expert, directly supporting continuous improvement, optimization, operations, and capital projects, and may also coordinate efforts globally.
What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Actions (CA) documentation for equipment failures, including electrical critical systems.
  • Directly support operational teams as the subject matter expert for issue resolution, event response, and complex procedural review, including ad-hoc training and critical equipment support.
  • Perform availability, capacity, efficiency, and sustainability analyses for the electrical critical systems in the Switch data centers in your region. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation solutions.
  • Monitor and interpret data center performance trends for continuous improvement and capital projects.
