Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (CT1-Leads) in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role involves leading and supporting infrastructure projects within a high-scale data center, focusing on conveyance, structured cabling, and Inside Plant (ISP) scopes. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with a strong construction or data center background, capable of managing complex installations and leading teams through demanding project schedules.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20 to $28 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage field teams across diverse scopes including conveyance, structured cabling, and ISP installations.
  • Install, route, and secure cabling and infrastructure components according to project design and technical specifications.
  • Oversee the quality and progress of work packages to ensure compliance with data center standards.
  • Maintain a minimum 50-hour weekly work schedule, including 10-hour shifts and potential transitions to 7-day operations.
  • Coordinate with project management to track labor, materials, and daily progress logs.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues related to conveyance systems and cable management.
  • Ensure all site safety protocols and PPE requirements are strictly followed by the team.
  • Support scheduled moves, adds, and changes (MACs) within the data center environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data center infrastructure or industrial structured cabling.
  • Proven experience leading teams or specific work scopes in a construction or mission-critical environment.
  • Background in construction or skilled trades is highly preferred for CT1 level technicians.
  • Willingness and ability to work a rigorous schedule of 50 to 70 hours per week as needed.
  • Specific expertise in conveyance systems, ISP cabling, or high-fiber count environments.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable schedules accurately.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for the duration of a 10-hour shift.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity required for terminating cables and handling small hardware components.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions typical of a construction site.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20 to $28 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
