Job description

The Senior Analyst is responsible for providing data-driven insight for key business stakeholders, across Coverys internal functional areas. This position will play a key role in the identification of trends that drive strategic and operational decision-making. This will necessitate an in-depth understanding of the business, its data, and corresponding technologies. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for setting, managing and meeting deadlines, ensuring the highest level of data accuracy in all work products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand business problems, requirements or expectations and translate them into a data driven solutions.
  • Use various applications and systems to extract, transform, manipulate, explore, analyze and report data, using data integration/preparation, analytics, modeling, and visualization tools including (but not limited to) PowerBI, Alteryx, Excel, SAS/SQL, etc.
  • Work with business units to identify areas where reports, dashboards, and advanced analytic methodologies can provide sharper decision making and actionable insights. Work with cross-departmental teams to define metrics, guidelines, and strategies for effective use of algorithms and data.
  • Develop dashboards and reports for consumption by various levels of users across the organization.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge base in underwriting, claims, business development, and risk management business functions.
  • Establish links across existing data sources and finds new ways by which disparate data sets can be brought together.
  • Coordinate data requirements between analytics and IT teams.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Assist in finding, evaluating and recommending new data sources and analytic tools. Identify tools that will help end users across Coverys interface more efficiently with large amounts of data.
  • Assist with developing and creating informative visualizations that intuitively display large amounts of data and/or complex relationships.
  • Work closely with the Coverys Data Governance body to ensure effective protection, integrity, and high quality of data assets. Analyze data quality issues, identify root causes of data defects, and continually seek ways by which high confidence in Coverys data can be sustained and strengthened.
  • Work with Data Scientist to assist in data prep and analysis for use in data models.
  • Simplify and explain advanced analytic work to business users.
  • Train staff on data definitions, coding structures, data sources and the use of Coverys tools.

Education, Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry is preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in analytics, informatics or statistics and/or an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of relational databases and reporting/analysis tools.
  • Proficient in the use of Tableau, Excel, SQL or similar tools is required.
  • Experience with Advanced Analytic Tools a plus.
  • Ability to not only work well independently, but also to function seamlessly in a team-based, collaborative environment.
  • A meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to the highest standards of data accuracy, methodology integrity, and ongoing data quality.
  • Excellent teaming, communication and time management skills are essential.
  • A demonstrated capability of working on multiple projects simultaneously, with high functionality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization throughout employment. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship, including visa transfers, now or in the future.

Base salary range is $88,561 - $104,190. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
