JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Manager of Cultural Arts, Camps and Seniors, and the direction of the Cultural Arts Coordinator, the Dance Instructor is responsible for teaching a variety of dance programs and classes depending on the strength and knowledge of the instructor. Classes may include Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, etc. for ages 2.5 years and older with varying skill levels. The Dance Instructor is responsible for general classroom management, planning, and instruction including dance terminology, warmups and basic stretching, dance technique, and choreography of dances. The ideal candidate will have a passion for dance, be self-motivated and have an outgoing energetic personality. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with participants and their parents, staff, and the public are essential. Previous dance and/or instructing experience is required.


HOURS

Year Round Schedule: Weekday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Schedule will depend on availability and need.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

  • Dance experience is required. Knowledge in multiple styles of dance is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children is required.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification is a plus but will be provided if needed.
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
