The Department of Athletics Graduate Assistant plays a key role in elevating the overall quality, energy, and professionalism of Indiana Tech's athletic events. This position assists with the planning, coordination, and execution of home competitions and special events, with an emphasis on creating an engaging atmosphere for student-athletes, fans, and visiting teams. The GA also supports ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen fan engagement, and build positive relationships with corporate partners and the campus community. Indiana Tech Athletics competes in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) level in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Game Day Operations:
  • Assist with the full execution of all home athletic events, including setup, in-game management, and post-event breakdown.
  • Serve as the gameday manager for assigned contests - ensuring smooth operations, safety, and professional presentation of Indiana Tech Athletics.
    • Responsible for planning events, setting up, tearing down, communicating with visiting teams and officials, and aiding in game-day promotions.
  • Coordinate and train event staff, student workers, and volunteers to deliver a consistent and high-quality game day experience.
  • Collaborate with facilities and sports information staff on logistics, scheduling, and event readiness.
  • Support visiting teams, officials, and fans to ensure an organized and welcoming environment.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance efficiency and overall fan experience.
  • Other duties as assigned

Game Day Experience & Fan Engagement:
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of in-game promotions, theme nights, promotions and special events to drive attendance and create memorable experiences.
  • Collaborate with various groups on fan engagement strategies, student involvement initiatives, and community outreach efforts.
  • Assist with music, PA, and timing coordination to maintain professional and exciting game presentation standards.
  • Collect feedback and help assess event experience quality to continuously improve game day operations.
  • Assist with marketing and branding of athletic department.
  • Assist with marketing and sales of Indiana Tech Apparel Store

Corporate Partnerships & Campus Relations:
  • Assist with the activation and fulfillment of corporate partnerships during home events.
  • Support efforts to grow community and corporate involvement in game day experiences.
  • Work with athletics staff to highlight sponsors and partners through signage, announcements, and special recognitions.
  • Foster positive relationships across campus departments and student organizations to strengthen event collaboration and attendance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; acceptance into an Indiana Tech graduate program required prior to start.
  • Independent decision-making and ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Organizational skills, time management, relationship building, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has a desire to pursue a career in Athletics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn event management systems or software.

Experience
  • Prior experience in athletics, event management, sport operations, or marketing preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules required.
