A cybersecurity analyst works to secure a company or organization’s computer network and monitor for possible threats to the information systems and databases. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*** Job Summary The Division of Social Services (DSS), Office of Information Security compliance team is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Cyber Security Compliance Specialist in Carson City. NV In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the Division is in compliance with our federal partners requirements.
You will work closely with other members of DSS to help ensure that our agency's data remains safe and secure. Responsibilities include using monitoring tools to assist in identifying suspicious activity; Complete reports on a scheduled and irregular time frame; Assist in the development and maintenance of the DSS security policies and procedures; Work within the Agency ticketing system to complete security related tasks; Educate other employees on DSS security policies and practices; Troubleshoot and logically address security events within the scope and authority of the position. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Job Duties Conduct detailed alternative analyses and determine end-user requirements through consultation with end-users, technicians, vendors, management, and others. Maintain documentation related to the assigned IT specialization's architecture, operations, and other records of work activities as required. Maintain current knowledge of technological trends and advancements in the IT field as well as security management practices, laws, policies, and ethics.
Participate in recommending and justifying resource allocations and expenditure decisions, tracking, and recording expenditures, preparing purchase requests, and writing technical requirements for grant proposals. Perform related duties as assigned. Under general supervision, incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower-level IT staff as assigned.
This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities This job specification lists the major knowledge, skills and abilities of the job and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) will be expected to have knowledge, skills and abilities from a previous level.
Computer Operations: Working knowledge of: basic elements of programming in order to generate all required reports and special projects as required of the data processing section; computer operating system including all functions, schedules, workflows, and processes: date communication networks; principles of operation, capabilities and limitations of a computer system and related environmental equipment in order to efficiently and effectively produce the final work product; supervisory principles and techniques. General knowledge of: diagnostic procedures as needed in verifying systems; principles of operation, capabilities and limitations of a computer system and related environmental equipment to produce the final work product efficiently and effectively; the principles of operation, capabilities and limitations of a multi-programming computer system and related equipment. Ability to: plan, organize and direct a shift or multi-shift operation of a computer system to facilitate the workflow.
Systems Administration: Detailed knowledge of: strengths and limitations of several general-purpose programming languages. Working knowledge of: specific departmental information systems (select positions).
