The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for day-to-day management of import and export shipments. Scope of work includes maintaining product classification to ensure full trade compliance and timely customs clearance, management of transportation-related import and export documentation, and staying up to date with the ever-changing landscape of trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions imposed by various countries. This role offers a salary range of $95,000-$110,000, based on experience and customs brokerage licensure.
This is a hybrid position that will offer the flexibility of working from home and on-site at our Lake Zurich facility.

The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for day-to-day management of import and export shipments. Scope of work includes maintaining product classification to ensure full trade compliance and timely customs clearance, management of transportation-related import and export documentation, and staying up to date with the ever-changing landscape of trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions imposed by various countries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide frontline support for daily customs compliance operations, resolve issues, and ensure on time customs clearance of products.
  • Ensure proper classification and origin determination for imported and exported goods, including noncommercial goods.
  • Maintain HTS and Schedule B product code databases.
  • Conduct audits of import/export records.
  • Prepare import/export related documentation as needed.
  • Maintain import and export Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Maintain department customs compliance data and records, runs monthly report, identifies trends and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage trade compliance programs, including follow up, process improvements, internal communication, team training, and audit readiness.
  • Provide support as required in the areas of duty drawback claims filing.

Job Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in customs, trade compliance, or a related field.
  • Customs broker license preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Core Trade Compliance: Harmonized Tariff Schedule Classification, Country of Origin and Marking, Valuation, Duty Drawbacks, Special Programs, Audits.
  • Familiarity with USMCA and other free trade agreements.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of international trade and transportation logistics.
  • Experience with ACE portal reporting and related compliance tools.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time appropriately.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and team-oriented.
  • Sound analytical abilities and acute attention to detail required.
  • Experience working with Excel and standard Microsoft Office programs.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
