Customs Operations Senior Specialist

The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods that power the global energy infrastructure. In this position, you will manage customs operations for imported materials, applying your expertise in trade compliance and international regulations to keep projects on track. Your work will directly support the reliability and efficiency of the power grid by preventing delays, reducing costs, and maintaining compliance with complex global standards. This is an opportunity to tackle challenges in international logistics, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to innovations that shape the future of energy. This role will be "onsite" at either our Mt. Pleasant, PA or South Brunswick, NJ locations.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Manage customs operations for inbound shipments, ensuring timely clearance and delivery.
  • Review and validate import documentation against trade compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed customs instructions in SAP GTS for brokers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and provide accurate information for customs processes.
  • Monitor and audit customs entries, addressing discrepancies and coordinating corrections.
  • Analyze delays and implement improvements to prevent storage costs and delivery issues.
  • Develop and maintain performance reports (daily, monthly, yearly) for customs operations.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives through process optimization in customs matters.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or equivalent preferred
  • Advanced knowledge in customs Law and Regulations (HS codes, Incoterms, customs procedures: free trade agreements, section 232 regulation, day-to-day relation with customs brokers) is a must.
  • 5-7 years of experience in customs managing international inbound shipments, relations with custom broker, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and good team player.
  • Having knowledge of customs in Canada is a plus.
  • Spoken a second language such as Spanish and/or French is a plus.
  • Coming from a custom broker (or licensed broker) is a relevant plus.
  • Experience in working with SAP S4 Hana (modules of GTS & TM)
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
