Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a highly driven Project Manager II to lead complex, high‑visibility programs that directly support our mission of delivering world‑class defense solutions. In this role, you will own the full project lifecycle—from scope definition and planning through execution, delivery, and customer satisfaction. You will guide integrated project teams, coordinate cross‑functional activities, and ensure every phase of the project meets our rigorous standards for performance, compliance, and quality.

As a Project Manager II, you will be the central point of leadership and accountability, driving schedule adherence, budget performance, risk management, and stakeholder communication. You will prepare and deliver updates to senior leadership, maintain alignment across engineering, operations, and customer teams, and ensure all project activities comply with applicable policies, statutes, and Kongsberg processes.

This is a critical role for a proven project leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, technical environment and is ready to make a measurable impact on programs that matter.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the Project Management Plan (PMP) IAW KDA processes.
  • Establish and execute the budget for the project assigned in accordance with project budgetary guidelines (e.g. cost, gross margin, etc).
  • Manage project milestones and the project integrated master schedule.
  • Coordinate with various internal organizations such as finance, compliance, procurement, engineering, configuration management, and operations to ensure project deliverables in accordance with the project milestones.
  • Responsible for resource requests for the project, including support agreements to secure outside resources (as needed).
  • Responsible for the Risk and Opportunity Management process in the project, including maintenance of the Project Risk Register.
  • Ensure that project objectives and plans are understood and accepted by the project team.
  • Plan the execution and implementation of project deliverables.
  • Provide the Project Owner with periodic status reports and as required to other senior management.
  • Contribute to learning and transfer of knowledge through project evaluation and a project final report.
  • Ensure proper handling of information and material subject to export and re-export (e.g. ITAR, EAR) restrictions throughout the project.
  • Secure good communication and cooperation within the project and towards the Customer.
  • Understand the product and ability to offer pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet the Customer’s expectations within schedule and budgetary guidelines.

MINIMUM LEARNING TIME FOR THIS POSITION PROVIDED EMPLOYEE HAS NECESSARY EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) months

OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS: 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Project.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
  • Ability to travel, both internationally and domestically.
  • After initial onboarding and training, travel will be up to 40% of the time.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team; positive “can-do” attitude.
