We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to provide exceptional customer service to our internal and external customer base. In this role, you will process orders for industrial, medical, specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, and other products and supplies received by mail, telephone, or personally from customers or associates. The Customer Service Rep will also provide supportive assistance and answer customer questions concerning locations, price, and use of merchandise.
Job Duties:
  • Adhere to company policies including safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Support incoming orders and assist customer inquiries via phone and email in a timely, helpful manner.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor on the phone to exhibit an excellent and welcoming impression of Airgas.
  • Enter customer orders accurately and efficiently, with attention to detail regarding pricing and location to maintain accuracy and support seamless processing.
  • Process credits accurately and efficiently to foster positive, trusted customer relationships.
  • Communicate collaboratively with internal and external partners, including product vendors, via phone, email, and website, to service customer needs effectively.
  • Partner with internal team members (outside sales representatives, branch and store personnel, as well as operations and distribution personnel) to improve the order-to-delivery process and ensure a smooth customer experience.
  • Utilize product knowledge and vendor training to share new products with customers, expanding their awareness of our market segments.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues to give every customer a positive experience with Airgas.
  • Ensure customer inquiries are brought to resolution through thoughtful follow-through and full utilization of available resources, partnering with the Customer Service Manager as needed.
  • Participate in recommended computer, sales, customer service, and product training opportunities to support ongoing professional growth.
  • Review open order reports regularly to help fulfill customer business needs smoothly.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or at least three years' experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • At least two years of inbound customer service experience in a high-volume call center environment.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite (familiarity with both is a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex customer inquiries and implement solutions that balance user needs with company policy.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills. Must be able to build effective relationships with all levels and roles in the organization.
  • Strong organizational, team-building, and communication skills. The ability to work and navigate within a complex matrixed organization.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with SAP and/or other ERP systems is highly desirable.
