Job description


Under the direction of the Manager of New Construction Services, provides assistance to residential, mid-level commercial, industrial, and municipal customers pertaining to electric and gas load requirements, energy systems, power quality and installation of electric and gas facilities. Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with customers and act as a Company liaison regarding all energy related matters. Must have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Must have competent working knowledge of electric and gas distribution systems. Demonstrated understanding of the construction standards and policies of the Company, and a working knowledge of the normal and emergency work procedures of Company forces. Must be proficient in the safety requirements for New Business work.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
  • Reviews customer requests to determine project scope, service classification, and applicable gas and electric requirements; coordinates with operations for planning and scheduling.
  • Provides accurate project status updates to operations for staffing, budgeting, and material planning.
  • Prepares and presents technical information on service classifications, load studies, equipment, and energy concepts; maintains detailed project notes and communicates updates to customers and contractors.
  • Stays current on gas and electric technologies and alternative energy solutions through ongoing professional development.
  • Develops close working relations with consulting engineers, architects, individual customers, land developer/builders, and other key individuals to keep abreast of proposed or existing planned expansions to provide adequate and timely energy service to the customer.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, tariffs, policies, and standards; inspects contractor work for adherence to specifications.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and customers, ensuring clear communication and timely responses to maintain a positive experience.
  • Promotes cross-departmental collaboration, tracks KPIs, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates leadership and initiative by identifying process improvements or efficiencies.
  • Participates in emergency response, regulatory proceedings, and other company-wide initiatives as required.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years Relevant work experience in either project/program management, electric or gas service installations, and/or service-related construction or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years Relevant work experience in either project/program management, electric or gas service installations, and/or service-related construction or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years Relevant work experience in either project/program management, electric or gas service installations, and/or service-related construction
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with customers and act as a Company liaison regarding all energy related matters, required.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines, required.
  • Ability to apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making in the handling of C&I and Residential projects, required.
  • Capability to effectively interact with all levels of management, as well as customers, customer representatives, trade organizations, and government agencies, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills, required.
  • Working knowledge of electric and gas transmission/distribution systems is required.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive approach to responsibilities, required.

  • Prior experience with Company IT systems such as Customer Relations Management/Project Management Systems (NUCON), Customer Information Management System (CIMS), and Work Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion, preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must be available to be on-call and/or participate in off-hour emergency response activities as required.
