Job Description

Title: Sr. Project Manager

Position Summary:

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the Mankato Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO is to create and implement project management best practices while initiating, planning, executing, and finalizing projects based upon the defined scope, budget and schedule. The Sr. Project Manager will also lead special projects as assigned.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Project Management Office (PMO) for Rolls Royce Solutions America Inc., Mankato through marketing, supporting, and utilizing the identified tools
  • Create, train, implement, and maintain project management methodologies, tools, and templates
  • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work while overseeing the development and maintenance of PMO staff competence.
  • Mentor Project Managers across different areas of business using Project Management best practices
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Initiate and coordinate the PMO Steering Committee meetings, conduct regular meetings and keep senior management abreast of project progress
  • Approve, coordinate and define PMO projects as needed including project scope, risks, budget, and schedule that support business goals in collaboration with senior management
  • Initiate, plan, execute, and communicate full-scale project schedules using appropriate tools
  • Assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the necessary recruitments during the project cycle. Negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company as needed
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, budget, and schedule while identifying potential crises, and advise contingency plans
  • Monitor, coordinate, and execute assigned projects to ensure compliance in accordance with the defined PMO framework
  • Facilitate project communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding scope, schedule, budget, meeting, progress, and pending issues on a regular basis.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, project requirements, and presentations
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Set, clearly communicate, and manage project expectations with team members.
  • Identity and resolve project issues and conflicts within the team
  • Initiate, develop and grow and business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Safety and environmental procedures and work instructions can be referenced in the Matrix
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration, and 7 years in customer project execution for power generations or 11 years of experience in customer project execution for power generation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Works on problems of diverse scope and high complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignment simultaneously.
  • Flexibility - ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management skills
  • Project Management Training certification through Project Management Institute and/or 5 or more work related experience preferred
