How much do custom staffing jobs pay per year?

As of May 30, 2026, the average yearly pay for custom staffing in the United States is $51,007.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $42,500.00 and $58,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Custom Staffing Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Custom Staffing Specialist, you need a solid understanding of recruitment processes, talent acquisition strategies, and relevant labor laws, often supported by a background in human resources or staffing. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS software, and online recruitment platforms is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities help build lasting client and candidate relationships. These competencies ensure the effective placement of talent, satisfaction of client needs, and smooth operational outcomes in a competitive staffing environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in custom staffing agencies?

Professionals in custom staffing agencies often encounter challenges such as matching specialized talent to unique client requirements and managing multiple client expectations simultaneously. The fast-paced environment requires strong organizational skills and adaptability, as priorities can shift quickly with new job orders. Additionally, building and maintaining relationships with both clients and candidates is crucial, as trust and clear communication are essential for successful placements. Staying updated on industry trends and workforce regulations also helps ensure ongoing success in this role.

What is custom staffing?

Custom staffing is a service provided by staffing agencies that tailor recruitment and placement solutions to meet the specific needs of a business. Unlike traditional staffing, which often fills standard roles with a general pool of candidates, custom staffing involves understanding a company’s unique requirements and finding candidates who match specialized skills, experience, or even cultural fit. This approach is commonly used for roles that require niche expertise or have unique workplace demands, helping organizations save time and improve workforce quality.

Job description

Join an award-winning organization that delivers world-class healthcare workforce solutions. Working within a vibrant and passionate team of recruitment and sales professionals, you will bring your energy and enthusiasm to help grow the firm by managing and growing local and regional key accounts in the State, Local and Education (SLED) Healthcare staffing space. About the Role The Full Desk Client Services Manager is responsible for driving both business development and recruitment execution within the healthcare staffing sector.

This role will serve exclusively on Cynet Health's SLED (State, Local & Educational Services) Government portfolio team. This role also serves as the primary liaison between clients and internal recruiting teams, ensuring timely delivery of qualified healthcare professionals while maintaining compliance with regulatory and credentialing standards. The position requires a balance of relationship management, operational leadership, and hands‐on recruitment expertise in a fast‐paced, metrics‐driven environment.

What will you be doing day to day? Serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare executives and workforce leaders, identifying staffing gaps and delivering tailored workforce solutions. Identify, pursue, and secure new client accounts across hospitals, clinics, and specialized care facilities.

Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job intake, candidate sourcing, screening, offer negotiation, and onboarding. Oversee and guide offshore recruitment teams to ensure productivity targets and quality standards are consistently met. Review candidate submissions and ensure compliance with healthcare credentialing, licensing, and documentation requirements.

Conduct regular client check-ins, business reviews, and performance updates to strengthen long‐term partnerships. Handle client escalations, resolve service issues, and ensure timely fulfillment of open requisitions. Collaborate with credentialing, compliance, and operations teams to ensure candidates meet all regulatory and contractual requirements.

Analyze staffing trends, order flow, and team capacity to optimize fulfillment strategies and client satisfaction. Provide operational performance reports and strategic insights to clients and leadership. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Experience & skills Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. 5–7 years of experience in healthcare staffing, workforce solutions, or full‐desk recruiting. 3+ years of experience in a lead, senior recruiter, or account management role.

Strong understanding of healthcare staffing dynamics, including clinical roles such as RNs and other hard‐to‐fill specialties. Proven ability to develop new business while managing and growing existing client relationships. Experience directing or collaborating with offshore recruiting teams to drive performance and delivery outcomes.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage C‐suite stakeholders (e.g., CNOs, CFOs) on workforce planning and labor cost strategies. Working knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, healthcare compliance requirements, and credentialing best practices. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open orders and competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment.
