Job description

Custom Building Products is seeking skilled Maintenance Mechanics to join our team at our Bell, CA. facility.  In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems across both high and low voltage equipment.  You'll also handle welding and fabrication tasks, conduct repairs and inspections, and support general facility maintenance. These are full-time positions available across all shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd). A shift differential of $1.50/hour applies to 2nd shift and $2.00/hour to 3rd shift. We offer competitive benefits and salary, plus up to $1.00/hr increase after 90 days depending on your work performance.  You will be responsible for ensuring our customers' satisfaction by achieving maximum up time on our manufacturing equipment. You will also work closely with all departments in the facility, including Production, Shipping, and more.  You will work in a team environment with an opportunity to advance in your career with Custom Building Products.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment including industrial blenders, mixers, packaging machinery, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, palletizers, and related equipment
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency
  • Conduct routine equipment audits; maintain accurate equipment inventory and service records
  • Identify and report equipment deficiencies or improvement opportunities to the Maintenance Manager
  • Install, maintain, and repair facility systems such as plumbing, lighting, and HVAC equipment
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures, including consistent use of lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices
  • Proactively identify and correct/repair and install facilities equipment

About You

We Require:

  • Working knowledge of PLCs and electrical control systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, repair and installation
  • Strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to repair and maintain fast-paced production lines. Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Experience with electrical conduits, wiring, networking, and control devices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and automated systems, including mixers and conveying/robotic systems
  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment with hands-on equipment repair and installation
  • Solid understanding of maintenance practices, tools, and occupational safety standards, including OSHA regulations and electrical codes
  • Strong communication skills, including documentation, reporting and root cause analysis
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to work overtime, respond to short-notice needs, and be available for emergency callbacks as required
  • Commitment to following all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work with minimum supervision 
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
