Job description

Job Title: Assembly Technician – 1st Shift

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling custom mechanical and electrical products in a small, clean job shop environment on 1st shift. You will read blueprints and production documents, use hand and power tools, and support both assembly and basic fabrication activities while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints to assemble mechanical and electrical components accurately.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to build products according to specifications.
  • Utilize a computer system to track and update production orders.
  • Measure and mark steel using a tape measure to prepare for machine operations.
  • Review and follow production documents to ensure correct assembly processes.
  • Assist the fabrication department by operating drill presses and saws as needed.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks, including grinding, to support product completion.
  • Run wire and perform basic electrical wiring tasks for the electrical portion of the final product when required.
  • Support mechanical and electrical assembly of custom products from start to finish.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to support safety and efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical assembly or electrical wiring in a production setting.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform precise measurements and markings.
  • Experience with basic fabrication processes such as drilling, sawing, and grinding.
  • Ability to use a computer to track and update production orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow production documents and instructions accurately.
  • Capability to perform custom assembly work with minimal errors.

Hours

1st shift: 6:00AM to 4:30PM (30-minute unpaid lunch) Monday through Thursday; OT will be worked on Friday from 6:00AM to 2:30PM and is dependent on department.

Pay

$22/hr to $28/hr

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
