Job description

Position:

The Custodial Manager is responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness and safety of the facility, and provides support in maintaining the proper function of our facility and exhibits. They will also perform other duties such as hiring, training, and supervision of the custodial team. The Custodial Manager will report to the Sr. Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Discovery Cube facility is maintained to a high appearance level to provide a clean, attractive, safe, comfortable and efficient working environment for guests and staff members 
  • Manage custodial team and ensures work is performed and completed to the established Discovery Cube standards
  • Oversee custodial operations across all assigned shifts, including the graveyard/overnight team, to ensure consistent cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.
  • Ensures all custodial supplies, materials and equipment are in stock and are used appropriately; exercises budget control
  • Responsible for maintenance of custodial /facility equipment
  • Develops and conducts orientation training and update training on policies, procedures, maintenance and use of cleaning supplies & equipment
  • Serves as a leader for custodial team while fostering teamwork, moral, motivation and open communication
  • Develop and implement custodial inspection forms measuring facility cleanliness and individual performance
  • Ensures all MSDS forms/information for custodial team are up-to-date and available
  • Provide safe work environment for all staff members; respond to emergency situations in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure staff members are following appearance, attendance and conduct guidelines
  • Such other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED; Higher Education preferred
  • 3-5 years of managerial experience in custodial operations required
  • Knowledge of the family entertainment industry and/or museum industry preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and methods used in custodial maintenance of buildings and facilities
  • Experience in maintaining/organizing inventories; scheduling staff; organizing and managing facility requests
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office software
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Initiative and strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to respond to urgent business matters outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, when operational needs require.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
