This position is located in Annapolis, MD

The core working hours are 5:00 am - 2:00 pm, M-F

The hourly wage is $23.85

This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

This position may require use of your personal vehicle to transport persons-served. All Melwood transportation policies must be followed. Liability insurance on your personal vehicle must be in full force and effect while transporting for or on the behalf of Melwood. Melwood will reimburse for mileage pursuant to the Travel policy.

INTRODUCTION

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs those cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications and assists in the monitoring of the custodial crews work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

*1. Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices, etc.

*2. Empties waste recycle containers and dispose in prescribed manner.

*3. Work various shifts with various supervisors according to contract specification.

*4. Clean restrooms, lockers, shower rooms and drinking fountains.

*5. Brunish and buffs floors with prescribed equipment. Strip and wax various floor surfaces.

*6. Cleans glass and interior windows.

*7. Low clean walls and other vertical and horizontal surfaces.

*8. Performs snow removal if required according to the contract specifications.

*9. Train employees on various tasks.

*10. Vacuum carpets, floors and rugs. Shampoo carpets with various types of equipment.

*11. Drive company vehicle to transport supplies and/or staff.

*12. Maintains issued equipment.

*13. Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.

*14. Supervises and inspects activities on a daily basis while performing assigned tasks.

15. Assumes responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman.

16. Performs all other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The Lead Worker, Custodial, supervises the work crew in the absence of the Custodial Foreman

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The incumbent is supervised by the Custodial Foreman.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent must be able to stand or walk 90% of the work time; and sit 10%. They must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. They must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. These requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. They must be able to communicate with supervisors and coworkers; must good vision, with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in custodial work required. Valid drivers license is required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities preferred. Must be able to pass security clearance.
