PURPOSE

Our CFO Advisors are our credit union partners' high-level fractional Finance and Accounting services providers. Typically responsible for multiple clients, they are responsible for producing required CFO-level reports, spreadsheets, and analytics for their assigned clientele and attending ALCO/Board Meetings, collaboration with and possible direction of the available accounting resources, and functioning as a strategic partner to credit union senior management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports for all assigned clients.
  2. Assist in developing, evaluating, and implementing policies and procedures for the accounting department.
  3. Ensure policies and procedures reflect current regulatory and GAAP requirements/standards.
  4. Responsible for financial reporting, financial analyses, cash management, and forecast reports in alignment with client timing requirements for all assigned clients.
  5. General ledger reconciliations, analysis of financial accounts, and preparation of journal entries. Provide end-of-month close and produce monthly financial statements for all assigned clients on a timely basis.
  6. Preparation of budgets and periodic analysis of budget variances for all assigned clients.
  7. Conduct special accounting studies, analyses, and special projects as requested by management.
  8. Support clients through exam and audit events.
  9. Provide tactical and strategic consulting; visit client sites from time-to-time to strengthen relationships and support fractional CFO job functions.
  10. Track hours for billing and product profitability modeling.
  11. Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount for the success of this role.

    • Provide same-day responses to all internal inquiries received by noon that day, provide next-day responses to all others, establishing priority to urgency on all requests
    • Provide internal support to all CUSO Development lines of business accordingly, to advocate and encourage internal collaboration

    • Uphold CU*SOUTH Code of Conduct and P.R.A.I.S.E. Core Values
    • Adhere to timelines provided to Clients and communicate necessary changes to implementation timelines clearly and effectively.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. B.A. in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent and five years' related accounting/ finance experience. CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required.
  2. 5+ years' experience leading credit unions' (or other qualifying financial institutions) finance/accounting teams.
  3. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
  4. Proficient with MS products. Expert-level Excel.
  5. Detail and deadline-oriented
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  7. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills are required.
  8. Thoroughness, excellent attention to detail, and good problem-solving skills are required.
  9. Ability to work independently and initiate several projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
