What is Cultural Care?

Cultural Care is an organization specializing in cultural exchange programs, most notably au pair placements. It connects families in need of childcare with young adults from around the world, who live with the family and provide childcare while experiencing a new culture. Cultural Care handles the recruitment, screening, and support for both host families and au pairs, ensuring a safe and rewarding experience for everyone involved. The program promotes cross-cultural understanding and personal growth for both au pairs and host families.

How does a Cultural Care team member typically collaborate with host families and au pairs to ensure a positive experience for all parties?

As a team member at Cultural Care, you serve as a vital liaison between host families and au pairs, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout their program experience. This often involves regular check-ins, problem-solving when cultural or logistical challenges arise, and organizing community-building events. Effective communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity are essential for fostering trust and resolving conflicts. You’ll also work closely with other team members to share best practices and ensure all placements meet program standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Cultural Care roles, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Cultural Care role, you need a strong background in intercultural communication, cultural sensitivity, and often a degree in social work, education, or a related field. Familiarity with case management systems, language proficiency tools, and certifications such as cultural competency training are commonly required. Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, and adaptability enable effective engagement with individuals from diverse backgrounds. These capabilities are crucial for building trust, supporting cultural integration, and ensuring positive outcomes for those navigating new environments.

Job description

Program Education Consultant
Cultural Care Au Pair
Location: Boston office
We're excited to share an opportunity to join the Cultural Care Program Education team as a Program Education Consultant reporting to the Sales Manager. In this highly autonomous sales role, you'll own and manage a pipeline of prospective host families from lead through matching, with a strong focus on proactive outbound outreach through phone, text, and email.
As part of a small team, you'll have significant ownership over how you manage your pipeline and drive results. We're looking for a self-starter and go-getter who is energized by ambitious goals, comfortable working independently, and excited to experiment with new outreach strategies, messaging, and follow-up approaches to improve engagement and conversion.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sales, isn't discouraged by an unanswered call or email, and is always thinking about what they can try next to move the right families forward.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and actively manage a pipeline of prospective host families from lead through matching.
  • Conduct consistent outbound outreach through calls, texts, and emails, with timely and strategic follow-up.
  • Lead consultative sales conversations by asking strong discovery questions, uncovering needs and potential barriers, and proactively guiding families toward the right next steps.
  • Achieve or exceed Lead → Matching conversion rate targets.
  • Develop and test creative outreach strategies, templates, messaging, and follow-up approaches to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Use data and pipeline trends to prioritize opportunities and adjust your approach.
  • Deliver an exceptional host family experience while maintaining strong sales discipline.
  • Share insights, trends, and successful approaches to help improve the overall sales strategy.

Qualifications
  • 1+ years of sales, matching, or relevant customer-facing experience with a strong performance track record.
  • Comfortable with outbound calling and proactive follow-up as a core part of the role.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and individual accountability.
  • Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to ask thoughtful discovery questions, listen for what isn't being said, and anticipate customer needs.
  • Creative and solutions-oriented, with a willingness to experiment with new approaches and learn from what works.
  • Resilient and persistent when navigating unanswered outreach, objections, or setbacks.
  • Data-driven and organized, with the ability to independently prioritize where to focus time and effort.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for delivering a high-quality host family experience.

In addition, you can expect:
