We are looking for a Project Manager [Mandarin Speaking]  for our Peterborough, Ontario site.  BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager has ultimate accountability for their assigned projects (budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction); and to ensure the company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution.  The Project Manager will lead projects with influence, and execute control over budgets, schedules and non-technical communication.  This position leads internal teams and reports to the Project Management Organization Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead diverse teams, toward successful execution of assigned contracts.
  • Provide effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
  • Responsible for ownership and maintenance of the project schedule and register while leveraging project team support.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely publication of project reports as defined in the contract.
  • Ensure resources (human and other) are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution.
  • Coordinate and support execution of planned activities; and continually review the effectiveness of the plan with the organization’s project team and client as needed.
  • Understand, predict, adjust, and react to changes that may affect the execution of the contract, using change management procedures; and ensure baselines are maintained, such that project performance data integrity is preserved.
  • Support planning efforts necessary for the submission of contract proposals and changes.
  • Support sub-contracting efforts to ensure execution of contracts within the client contract defined constraints.
  • Strive for mutual success of client and organization through balancing of expectations; and escalate within the organization when mutual success is jeopardized.
  • Identify, communicate, monitor, mitigate, and avoid risks during the execution of contract. 
  • Responsible for contract execution within the organization’s governance and compliant with departmental procedures; and to seek appropriate approvals for deviations when necessary.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the department’s governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
  • Support Accounts Receivable in timely receipt of clients' payments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Language Requirement: Mandarin language proficiency in reading and writing is required for this position. 

  • Bachelor's degree OR College Diploma in Business, Engineering, or other suitable field from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of industry related experience (such as in Engineering, Quality, Commercial, Finance Manufacturing).
  • Proficiency with complex scheduling practices.
  • Demonstrable understanding of project management fundamentals like, scheduling, earned-value management, budget controls, and change management.
  • Demonstrable understanding of contract management.
  • Demonstrable capabilities in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets.
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience regarding client management and commitment to client relationships and mutual success.
  • Excellent communication skills; professional mastery of English, in written and verbal forms.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • 5 years of related industry experience.
  • 5 years of project management experience in a project based organization.
  • Experience in the nuclear energy production industry.
  • High level of competency with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Project Management Professional certification.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $88,000.00 and $129,000.00 per year. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
