Job description

The Culinary Lab Assistant will provide lab support to students in the Culinary Program under the direction of the Culinary Instructors. Lab Support includes setting up the kitchen for classroom activities, ensuring adequate supplies and resources, and providing assistance to student and/or faculty in the learning environment.

Position will work during academic year, August - May.  Position will average 26 hours per week.  Hours may vary based on instructional needs. 


  • Assist in the set-up of the culinary lab to facilitate student learning under the direction of Faculty.
  • Assist students with their learning activities as directed by Culinary Instructors.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are ordered to meet the needs of the program.
  • Assist in the receipt of food orders to ensure accurate delivery and quality is received.
  • Reconcile P-Card purchases timely and work with Business Office to document these purchases.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Computer literate and practiced in various processes and applications, such as basic navigation, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and file management.
  2. Ability to demonstrate for and assist individuals and/or small groups.
  3. Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills, and work with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  4. Strong organizational skills to record and track data.
  5. Strong verbal communication skills, including non-technical speaking skills, with the ability to communicate facts, explain procedures and answer questions from managers, staff, students and the general public.
  6. Demonstrated experience work with culturally diverse populations.

Education & Experience:

  1. Associate Degree in Culinary or Food Services from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.  Bachelorโ€™s Degree Preferred.
  2. Two (2) year of relevant experience within food services.
