26-27 Teacher Transfer Instructions:
Current JCPS teachers who wish to transfer into this position must click HERE to be considered for this transfer. Transfer requests for this position will not be considered after 8/7/2026 For more information regarding the JCTA Teacher Transfer Process see the attached Article 16 document. At this time, current teachers applying for a transfer will be considered to fill the position in February of 2027.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes and delivers the program of instruction based on approved curriculum; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules; supervises students, and secures and maintains school property and materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Kentucky certification appropriate to the grade level and curricular assignment
2. Experience and preparation required by the Board
3. Effective communication skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Experience in a diverse workplace.
Requirements to be an Occupation Based Teacher:
  1. Applicant must be a US Citizen with a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Four (4) years of successful and appropriate occupational experience in the teaching area. A maximum of one (1) year of the required work experience may be satisfied by completion of an accredited occupational preparation program for the occupation to be taught; and,
  3. At least two (2) years of the occupational experience completed within the last five (5) years.

Certification requirements:
  • Hold a professional teaching certification for the appropriate course code as listed under https://applications.education.ky.gov/SCCD/Home/Index
  • OR
  • Meet Occupation-based teaching requirements (see attached Occ Based CTE Requirements and Hiring Procedures document)

  • Issuance of one year Provisional Certificate; completion of three (3) semester hours of credit in the occupational area OR successfully completing the New Teacher Institute (NTI)

Additional training may be required.

Candidates should provide detailed information regarding all relevant experience and job tasks on this document, as it will be used to determine whether candidates meet the minimum requirements for the position and will be a factor in determining eligibility for experience credit.
