What is a CSR veterinarian?

CSR veterinarians are veterinary professionals who specialize in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives within the veterinary field. They work to ensure that veterinary practices and organizations operate ethically, sustainably, and in ways that benefit both animals and society. Their responsibilities may include developing animal welfare programs, implementing environmentally friendly practices, and engaging in community outreach. CSR veterinarians help bridge the gap between veterinary medicine and social responsibility, ensuring that clinics and companies positively impact their communities and the environment.

How do CSR veterinarians typically collaborate with other veterinary professionals to ensure high-quality client service?

CSR Veterinarians work closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and administrative staff to provide seamless care and communication for clients and their pets. They play a key role in interpreting and relaying medical information, addressing client concerns, and scheduling follow-up appointments. Collaboration often involves participating in team meetings, updating patient records, and supporting veterinarians during consultations. This team-based approach helps ensure that clients receive timely, accurate information and that patient care is coordinated efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CSR veterinarian, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CSR Veterinarian, you need a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, state licensure, and a solid foundation in animal care, diagnostics, and treatment. Familiarity with veterinary management systems, digital radiography, and laboratory equipment is typically required. Exceptional client communication, empathy, and problem-solving abilities are important soft skills that foster trust and effective service. These skills and qualifications are vital to ensure high-quality animal healthcare and maintain strong relationships with clients and their pets.

Job description

Customer Service Representative โ€“ Emergency Veterinary Hospital

$19.00โ€“$21.00/hour (DOE)

Part-time opportunity in Grand Terrace, California

Schedule: Evening, weekend & holiday availability required

Be the calm, compassionate first point of contact for pet owners experiencing a veterinary emergency. Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) is seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative (CSR) to support clients and our Emergency Veterinary team in a fast-paced, walk-in hospital environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Receptionist, Veterinary Customer Service Representative, Client Service Representative, or Veterinary CSR who is comfortable managing an unpredictable emergency caseload while providing exceptional client service.

Why Join Animal Emergency Clinic

Animal Emergency Clinic in Grand Terrace is an AAHA-accredited emergency veterinary hospital that has served pets and families throughout the Inland Empire for more than 50 years. Currently open overnight on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends, AEC is preparing to expand to 24/7 emergency veterinary services.

Because AEC is a walk-in emergency hospital, we do not schedule appointments. Every shift is differentโ€”from critical traumas to urgent medical casesโ€”and our client service team plays an essential role in keeping communication and patient intake organized while supporting pet owners through stressful situations.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

  • Welcome clients and pets with compassion, professionalism, and empathy.

  • Answer a multi-line phone system, gather information, and appropriately communicate urgent concerns to the clinical team.

  • Coordinate emergency patient check-in and discharge while maintaining accurate client and patient records.

  • Process payments, review estimates, and clearly explain hospital services and processes.

  • Communicate wait times, expectations, and updates to pet owners during emergency visits.

  • Partner closely with Emergency Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and other hospital team members.

  • Maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming reception and client service area.

  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and an unpredictable emergency caseload.

What You Bring

  • At least one year of experience in a veterinary hospital or veterinary client service environment.

  • Emergency veterinary hospital or urgent care experience preferred; candidates with general practice veterinary experience will also be considered.

  • Strong customer service, client communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a high-volume, fast-paced emergency hospital.

  • Ability to communicate calmly and compassionately with pet owners experiencing stressful or emotionally difficult situations.

  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative veterinary team.

  • Passion for animals and commitment to providing an exceptional client experience.

Perks & Benefits

Benefits are based on eligibility and may include medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer match; paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and sick leave; Employee Assistance Program (EAP); pet care discounts; and professional development opportunities.

Location Highlight

Located in Grand Terrace in California's Inland Empire, Animal Emergency Clinic is conveniently accessible to veterinary professionals throughout Riverside, San Bernardino, Colton, Loma Linda, Redlands, Moreno Valley, Fontana, Rialto, Highland, and surrounding communities.
