High compensation often includes base salary, bonuses, and equity, particularly at leading firms or successful startups in the cryptocurrency industry.

What does a crypto engineer do?

A crypto engineer designs, develops, and implements cryptographic systems and blockchain technologies to ensure secure data transmission and storage. They often work with programming languages like C++, Python, or Solidity, and may be involved in creating smart contracts, security protocols, or decentralized applications. Strong knowledge of cryptography, blockchain platforms, and security best practices is essential for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Crypto Engineer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Crypto Engineer, you need strong proficiency in cryptography, security protocols, blockchain technologies, and software development, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related technical field. Familiarity with languages like C++, Go, Rust, or Solidity, and experience with cryptographic libraries, blockchain networks, and industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP or CEH are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly are important soft skills. These abilities are crucial for building secure, scalable crypto systems and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Do crypto jobs pay well?

Job description

About Nclusion
Nclusion is on a mission to provide traditional financial services to 1.5 billion people worldwide without access today. Without a secure way to save, invest, or transfer money, individuals are not empowered to accumulate short or long-term wealth. We're changing that by bridging the gap between traditional banking and the communities that need it most.
About the Role
The Crypto Infrastructure team builds the foundational systems that power Nclusion's crypto products - including custody, transaction processing, key management, indexing, and blockchain integrations.
This team enables engineers working on our crypto rails to move fast while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and correctness.
What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain core crypto infrastructure services used across the company
  • Design systems for custody, key management, signing, and transaction orchestration
  • Integrate directly with blockchains, RPCs, indexers, and on-chain data pipelines
  • Improve reliability, scalability, and observability of crypto systems
  • Define internal APIs and abstractions that other teams depend on
  • Participate in security reviews, incident response, and system hardening
What You Bring to the Table
  • Strong backend or systems engineering experience
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and operational concerns
  • Experience working directly with blockchains, nodes, RPCs, or indexers
  • Security-first mindset, especially around keys, permissions, and funds movement
  • Comfort owning critical infrastructure and on-call responsibilities
  • Bonus: experience with custody systems, HSMs, or blockchain indexing
Benefits and Perks
  • 401k with a match!
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Competitive compensation & equity - We believe in sharing success.
  • Flexible PTO - We focus on impact, not tracking vacation days. We encourage a minimum of 14 days.
  • In-office lunch, team events & culture

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $150,000 - $235,000 per year.
