Job description

Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies-from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups-use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Stripe Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications, and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.
What you'll do
Stripe is seeking an experienced accountant to join our world-class accounting team. In this role, you will support revenue and cost accounting for products developed by our Bridge subsidiary, leveraging your technical expertise with U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606, to quickly identify accounting implications and impacts on customers while advising and collaborating with team members cross-functionally to develop operational processes that help us scale. Ideally, you will have both public accounting and industry experience in tech or financial services, as well as experience working for companies with a high volume of complex transactions and issues.
Responsibilities
  • Own P&L accounting for Bridge's products, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and analytical reviews
  • Partner closely with Bridge's product, go-to-market, and finance partners to thoroughly understand new products, features, and contracts, and advise on accounting implications
  • Partner with internal systems and engineering teams to support internal financial systems and automation of accounting processes, and identify, recommend, and implement scalable accounting processes to support global growth at Bridge
  • Research and prepare technical accounting analyses, assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
  • Understand data and system flows, analyze financial results to identify and address anomalies, and support external audit processes
Who you are
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant public accounting or industry experience, with a B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred), experience accounting for cryptocurrencies including stablecoins, and experience with SQL
  • Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues, with a proven track record of managing high volumes of complex transactions and financial issues
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences, and demonstrated success working collaboratively and influencing cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated history of taking on challenging projects and producing results with excellent attention to detail, and a solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices and challenging existing processes to identify improvement opportunities
Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of or experience in the technology or payments industry
