Kneads Bakeshop is an artisan bakery, café & market in a state-of-the-art flagship facility in Harbor East Baltimore. Kneads is a passion project by H&S Family of Bakeries to bring premium artisan baked goods, pastries, and food to our communities. Our wholesale distribution serves the DC/Maryland/Virginia region.
The H&S Family of Bakeries includes H&S Bakery, Northeast Foods, and Schmidt Baking Company to make up America's largest family-owned variety bakery, proudly providing specialty baked goods to major industry retailers and small businesses throughout the United States. From humble beginnings, one small bakery in Baltimore has grown to become a staple in our community. We want to combine H&S's history with the new age of artisan craft, creating a one-of-a-kind brand and experience, giving a modern face to H&S Bakery. We want people to see it, touch it, and taste it, to have a full sensory experience.
Position Summary:
The Barista/Sales Associate responsibilities include mixing and serving extraordinary coffee, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks to guests of the bakery (restaurant and private events). This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job. It recognizes that other related duties not specifically mentioned might also be performed, and that not all responsibilities may be carried out depending on operational needs.
Role & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve filter coffee, tea, non-espresso based drinks, and food according to Knead's guidelines.
  • Act as a key player in our effort to provide amazing customer experiences.
  • Greet, welcome, and assist all customers upon entry and throughout their visit.
  • Accurately perform cashiering duties including sales, returns, exchanges, and cash handling.
  • Secure all money at the end of each shift., complete necessary paperwork.
  • Efficiently perform restocking, tidying, and cleaning duties.
  • Completion of daily and long-term checklists, meeting work quality standards set by Manager.
  • Communicate important updates to Shift Leaders during shift changes.
  • May be required to help with weekly/monthly inventory.
  • Serves wine, draft or bottled beer and food to bar guests according to Kneads standards.
  • Mix ingredients to prepare signature cocktails and other drinks for restaurant & private events.
  • Responsible for proper storage of alcohol.
  • Knowledge of Bakery Café & Market Menus.
  • Maintain knowledge of new coffees, seasonal items, and retail promotions.
  • Will be assigned to serve banquets and private events as needed.
  • Attend skill building classes to continuously enhance your own skill set.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by Kneads, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
  • The Bakery/Cafe operates 7 days a week, 24. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.

Education and Experience:
  • Previous barista & bartending experience.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Good knowledge of liquor and preparation methods.
  • Excellent Barista Technical Skills.
  • Cash handling experience
  • Must be able to cashier and take customer orders.
  • Kindly greet and answer any questions customers may have.
  • Upkeep market so that it is presentable.
  • Ability to answer inquiries about marketplace items.
