Sugar Bowl is seeking a skilled, experienced, and highly motivated Trail Crew II Member to take on an elevated role within our Mountain Operations team. This is a position for someone who has already proven themselves in the field and is ready to bring deeper expertise, greater autonomy, and emerging leadership to the work. If you're a seasoned outdoor operations professional who thrives on technical challenges, leads by example, and takes genuine pride in the safety and beauty of a world-class mountain environment, we want to hear from you.

Building on the full foundation of Trail Crew I, this role adds heavier equipment operation and tree felling. Your fingerprints will be on some of the most technically demanding and impactful work happening on the mountain.

What You'll do:

Demonstrate full, highly proficient command of all Trail Crew I responsibilities: hiking, shoveling, brush cutting, raking, firewood cutting, tree trimming, and labor support - executed with speed, precision, and unwavering attention to safety

Work confidently across steep, variable, and technically demanding mountain terrain in all seasonal conditions

Support Mountain Operations with snowmaking maintenance and active contributions to capital improvement and infrastructure projects

Assist Resort Services and Summer Revenue departments as operational needs dictate, bringing a flexible and solutions-oriented mindset

Apply certified sawyer skills to safely fell small to medium trees, making sound judgments about hazard assessment, directional falling, and site safety

Operate heavy equipment including chippers with competence and care

Assist Ski Patrol in summertime rescue scenarios, serving as a capable and composed support resource in emergency situations

Physical Requirements:

Ability to hike extended distances on steep, technical, and remote terrain while carrying tools, equipment, or rescue gear - regularly up to 50+ lbs.

Sustained physical stamina for full-day outdoor shifts involving heavy labor, equipment operation, and emergency response readiness

Upper and lower body strength sufficient for demanding tasks including tree felling, equipment operation, shoveling, and hauling in variable alpine conditions

Comfortable and confident working at significant heights including elevated structures, and steep exposed terrain

Physical dexterity and coordination required for safe operation of chainsaws, heavy equipment, power tools, and rope rescue systems

Ability to perform in all weather conditions including intense sun, high winds, cold temperatures, and afternoon lightning environments

Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical assessment if required
