Job description

Business Credit Analyst
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Business Lending, this role is responsible for analyzing and underwriting business loan requests within established credit policies and guidelines. Evaluate financial information-including credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, and third-party sources-to assess borrower risk, repayment capacity, and overall creditworthiness. Analyze collateral adequacy and structure loan recommendations accordingly. Prepare clear, well-supported loan presentations for Loan Committee review, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and evaluate business loan requests in accordance with established policies and risk parameters
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow to assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity
  • Evaluate and document collateral to ensure adequacy and compliance with lending requirements
  • Prepare concise, defensible credit summaries and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and business members
Required Knowledge:
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including interpretation of business financial statements and tax returns
  • Solid understanding of commercial credit principles and risk assessment
  • Ability to clearly communicate and support credit recommendations
  • Working knowledge of credit union business lending products and services
  • Exposure to SBA 504 and 7(a) loan programs is a plus
