About the Role
The credit research associate will work with two senior analysts covering the metals & mining, REIT and airline sectors across investment grade and leveraged finance as well as independent power producers in leveraged finance.
About the Team
The Loomis Sayles credit research team prides itself in providing independent views and forward-looking assessments of credit risk and potential investment opportunities. The team thinks beyond rating agencies when performing research and values unique ideas and perspectives. Research coverage spans the broad credit spectrum across investment grade, high yield and bank loans in developed and emerging markets. Credit recommendations combine rigorous bottom-up fundamental analysis, structural risk assessment, and relative value-based insights. Credit research analysts are integrated into sector teams that offer market and research insight through the collaboration of portfolio managers, strategists, analysts, and traders.
Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to fundamental industry and company credit analysis as part of a collaborative team led by a senior analyst
  • Build and maintain financial models
  • Compile and analyze industry and company data using Excel, PowerPoint and internal applications.
  • Create and maintain foundational infrastructure instrumental in conducting fundamental credit research, inclusive of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors
  • Contribute to new issue reviews, detailed credit updates, in-depth sector reviews, and other research memos and presentation materials
  • Identify credit risk factors and have an understanding of financial markets
  • Develop skills in assessing relative valuation

Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with experience in an analytical discipline such as accounting, finance, business, economics or mathematics
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic accounting skills with a solid understanding of financial statements and detailed model building
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using Bloomberg
  • Strong interest in financial analysis, research, and the ability to source new information and offer insights
  • Quick learner who is organized and able to manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment
  • Solid writing and developing presentation skills
  • Excels in a team environment - proactive, collaborative, and collegial
  • Positive attitude, takes direction well and embraces feedback.

Loomis Sayles is committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$100,000 USD. Your starting salary will be based on your experience, skills, qualifications and local benchmarking. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award, which is based on individual and company performance.
