Growth + Content Strategist - Creative Travel

VAWAA

Remote

$2.5K - $3.5K/mo

Contractor

Job description

Application Deadline: July 20, 2025
Remote | Contract
Commitment: ~24 hours/week on a monthly retainer, with potential to transition to full-time after 4 months.
About VAWAA:
VAWAA is a unique marketplace that connects guests with master artists worldwide for immersive, one-on-one creative apprenticeships. At our core, we believe in reviving meaningful human connection through hands-on creativity-craft as a universal language that bridges cultures and transforms lives. We're a small, mission-driven team dedicated to growing our impact and tripling revenue in 2025 by deepening guest engagement and optimizing our booking funnel. vawaa.com
The opportunity:
We're looking for a hands-on Growth + Content Strategist who combines strong growth marketing skills with expert storytelling and copywriting. This is not a typical content role-you will own and drive email and newsletter strategies that convert subscribers into bookings, run growth experiments, and work closely with the founder and artist teams to help share VAWAA's mission of authentic creative connection.
What success looks like:
  • Dramatically increase email-driven bookings from our existing subscriber base, while amplifying the message of creativity as connection.
  • Own and craft powerful, compelling email content whether newsletters, drip sequences, campaigns, or reactivations that deeply connects with our audience and drives bookings.
  • Strategically plan, segment, and execute email marketing campaigns, including A/B tests and lifecycle nurturing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve landing pages and user flows with a focus on storytelling and experience.
  • Use data to continuously test, learn, and refine growth strategies that honor our mission.
  • Champion the storytelling that brings VAWAA's creative and cultural mission to life in every message.

Who you are:
  • You have proven experience growing newsletters or email programs focused on driving meaningful conversions and business growth (beyond editorial content).
  • Exceptional copywriter who crafts clear, compelling, and emotionally resonant emails, landing pages, and CTAs that inspire action and convey deep human connection.
  • Skilled in lifecycle marketing including segmentation, nurture, reactivation, and A/B testing.
  • Comfortable with data and metrics, running growth experiments, and making decisions based on results.
  • Preferably experienced with early-stage startups, marketplaces, or creator economy platforms.
  • Passionate about craft, culture, and immersive experiences, and able to communicate brand ethos with nuance and authenticity.
  • Experienced with highly considered, emotional, aspirational products or experiences that have longer, friction-heavy buying cycles.

Compensation & Commitment:
This is a contract role (~24 hours/week) with a competitive monthly retainer of $2,500-3,500 plus performance-based bonuses tied to growth milestones. After a 4-month initial period, there is strong potential to transition to a full-time position with a salary range of $75,000-$100,000 plus potential equity. We value ownership, creativity, and a growth mindset, and offer flexibility along with meaningful impact.
Why join us?
At VAWAA, you'll help bring creative, authentic human connection to life on a global scale. You'll have direct ownership of growth strategies with real impact, in a mission-driven environment that values creativity, authenticity, and meaningful experiences. This is your chance to make a difference through storytelling and growth that honors the power of hands-on artistry and shared creative journeys.
Note: We are based in New York, but open to remote applications from within the US, Canada, Western Europe to allow time zone overlap.
Tip: Cover Letters that include a link to a short 5 min video explaining why you are the best person for this role will be given preference.
