What is a creative temp?

Creative Temps are professionals hired on a temporary basis to fulfill creative roles within organizations, such as graphic design, copywriting, video editing, or marketing. These individuals often work on short-term projects, seasonal campaigns, or to fill gaps during staff absences. Creative Temps bring specialized skills and fresh perspectives to teams, helping companies meet deadlines and achieve their creative goals without long-term commitments. Their flexibility and expertise make them valuable assets for agencies, in-house creative departments, and businesses experiencing fluctuating workloads.

What types of projects do creative temps typically work on, and how does project variety impact daily responsibilities?

Creative Temps often handle a wide range of projects, such as graphic design, copywriting, social media content, or marketing campaigns, depending on the organization's needs. The variety means your daily responsibilities can change frequently, offering opportunities to develop new skills and adapt to different creative briefs and brand guidelines. This dynamic environment can be both exciting and challenging, requiring flexibility, strong time management, and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts. Collaboration with full-time staff and other temps is common, so strong communication skills are essential to ensure smooth workflow and alignment with project goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative temp, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Temp, you need a solid foundation in design principles, creative problem-solving, and experience with relevant creative projects, often backed by a degree in art, design, or a related field. Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and project management platforms is typically expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to quickly integrate into new teams help set top candidates apart. These skills ensure you can deliver high-quality creative work on tight deadlines while collaborating effectively in diverse, fast-paced environments.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

  • Proactively identify and eliminate bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or redundancies in creative delivery.

Hands-On Execution & Production Oversight

  • Own and manage creative production timelines, trafficking, and deliverables, rolling up sleeves to support execution.
  • Serve as operational support to the in-house creative team, ensuring smooth daily execution while planning for long-term scale.
  • Oversee the effective execution of creative productions, shoots, and events, and ensure maximum usage, creative asset production, and value is extracted from productions.

  • Act as a connective tissue between creative, channels, editorial, and finance - translating creative needs into operational plans.
  • Champion transparency and alignment across teams through documentation, shared roadmaps, and reporting dashboards.

  • Growth mindset ready to take on new challenges and opportunities as the marketing and editorial landscapes continue to evolve
  • Must have the ability to thrive in ambiguity, viewing it as an opportunity to problem solve rather than a challenge
  • Fun attitude and sense of humor-you can't take the job too seriously!

WORK MODEL:

This role is Together@TKWW-eligible. If you're based in NYC, we follow a hybrid schedule, balancing in-office collaboration of days a week and work-from-home flexibility. If you're in Austin, this position is remote for now, with the potential to shift to a hybrid model as our local team grows.
