Creative Technologist Intern information

What is the difference between Creative Technologist Intern vs Creative Developer Intern?

AspectCreative Technologist InternCreative Developer Intern
Required SkillsCreative tech, coding, design, problem-solvingWeb development, coding, design
Work EnvironmentAdvertising agencies, tech firms, media companiesDesign studios, digital agencies, marketing teams
Industry UsageUsed in creative and tech-driven projectsPrimarily in digital and web projects

The Creative Technologist Intern and Creative Developer Intern roles share skills in coding and design but differ in focus. The Creative Technologist Intern emphasizes integrating creative ideas with technology, often working across disciplines. The Creative Developer Intern concentrates on web and app development, focusing on coding and technical implementation. Both roles are common in creative industries, but the Creative Technologist Intern typically involves broader experimentation and innovation.

What types of projects can a Creative Technologist Intern expect to work on, and how do they typically collaborate with other teams?

As a Creative Technologist Intern, you can expect to work on projects that bridge the gap between design and technology, such as developing interactive prototypes, experimenting with emerging technologies like AR/VR, and building digital experiences for marketing campaigns. You'll regularly collaborate with designers, developers, and strategists to ideate and implement innovative solutions that align with client goals. This role often involves rapid prototyping, user testing, and presenting concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing valuable experience in cross-functional teamwork and creative problem-solving.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Creative Technologist Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Technologist Intern, you need a blend of programming proficiency (such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS), digital design fundamentals, and a portfolio showcasing interactive projects or prototypes. Familiarity with creative coding tools (like Processing or p5.js), prototyping platforms (such as Arduino or Unity), and design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is often expected. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you bridge creative ideas with technical execution and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. These skills are essential for developing innovative digital experiences and contributing to both the creative and technical aspects of projects.

What are Creative Technologist Interns?

Creative Technologist Interns are individuals who blend technical skills with creative problem-solving to develop innovative digital experiences. They often work at the intersection of design and technology, using tools such as coding, prototyping, and digital media to bring creative ideas to life. Interns in this role may collaborate with designers, developers, and strategists to produce interactive prototypes, installations, or digital products. The position is ideal for those interested in both creative concepts and hands-on technical implementation.

Job description

Why Youโ€™re Here

As a Brand & Motion Design Intern, youโ€™ll help define how Fuser looks, moves, and communicates. Youโ€™ll design campaign visuals, product announcements, brand assets, and short-form motion pieces that capture Fuserโ€™s energy and clarity.

Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with our Head of Creative Deployment, Head of Growth & Marketing, and Product Team. Youโ€™ll be encouraged to experiment โ€” using Fuser itself to generate assets, workflows, and visual ideas that inform our brand.

ย
What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Design and produce marketing visuals, launch campaigns, product updates, and brand assets

  • Create short-form videos, animations, and tutorials using Fuser and motion tools

  • Contribute to brand systems, layout templates, and creative direction

  • Explore generative and AI-assisted visuals to extend Fuserโ€™s identity

  • Collaborate across teams to connect storytelling, motion, brand, and product features

  • Participate in weekly reviews while maintaining creative autonomy

ย
Must-Have Competencies
  • Proficiency in Figma and Photoshop and at least one motion tool: After Effects, Cavalry, Rive, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve

  • Solid graphic design fundamentals โ€” typography, layout, color, hierarchy.

  • Interest and experience in AI /creative tools (Fuser, Runway, Kling, Midjourney, etc.)

  • Organized, self-driven, and comfortable with feedback

ย
Nice-to-Have Competencies
  • Experience with Blender, TouchDesigner, or Rive

  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JS for responsive layouts

  • Knowledge of generative design or procedural animation

  • Editing or post-production experience for social-media content

  • Illustration, photography, or creative-direction background

  • Has a deep respect for typeface design

ย
How We Work

In Person โ€” based in Frogtown, LA with at least two days in office each week.

Creative-first culture โ€” we care about accessibility, design, and feel.

High trust, high standards โ€” ownership early, autonomy always.

Small team, big impact โ€” every visual shapes how people experience Fuser.

ย
Compensation & Duration
  • $1,850/month, equivalent to approximately $21โ€“24/hour based on an expected schedule of 18โ€“20 hours per week.

  • $500/month in Fuser generation credits

  • 3/6-month internship with potential for full-time conversion

  • Flexible schedule and weekly mentorship

ย
How We Interview
  • Intro Call โ€“ Meet Laure or a founder to discuss your interests and background.

  • Take Home โ€“ A paid take-home pilot so we get to know you and your design skills better.

  • Team Conversation โ€“ Discuss collaboration, learning goals, and next steps.

ย

Weโ€™re looking for emerging designers who think in movement and systems โ€” creators who want to use Fuser to shape the next language of motion and brand storytelling.

ย
ย
At Fuser, the process is the point.

Fuser is a creative technology company founded by artists, educators, and engineers. Weโ€™re building tools for professionals who ideate, orchestrate, and deliver with intention. Our flagship product is a collaborative canvas for working across text, image, video, audio, and 3D, powered by the latest AI models.

Weโ€™re a small team in Los Angeles designing the future of creative software: joyful, intuitive, and powerful tools for real-world storytelling and production.
