Job description

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver-The World's Most Experienced Driver-to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo's fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Group Creative Marketing Lead.

You will:

  • Direct & Embed with Agency Partners: Partner with world-class international creative agencies, embedding with local teams to co-create campaigns that preserve core brand tenets while unlocking deep cultural resonance.
  • Govern Brand Guidelines & Standards: Own visual identity guidelines and verbal brand voice across international channels, providing oversight to prevent brand drift and ensure cross-market consistency.
  • Translate Business Briefs into Creative Strategy: Translate complex business objectives and localized audience insights into clear, actionable and compelling briefs for creative teams.
  • Architect Repeatable Creative Systems: Architect and optimize modular creative templates and AI-assisted workflows to enable partner agencies to deliver localized creative assets at speed without sacrificing craft.

You have:

  • Elite Creative Pedigree: 10+ years of experience in copywriting, brand creative, or creative direction, backed by an exceptional portfolio demonstrating both verbal and visual craftsmanship.
  • International Localization Expertise:Deep experience creating TV, digital, and experiential campaigns for diverse international audiences and regional consumer behaviors.
  • Agency & Vendor Direction Mastery: Proven track record of managing and directing top-tier global agencies and production partners to drive creative excellence under aggressive timelines.
  • Full-Funnel Campaign Track Record: Proven ability to scale creative from massive brand initiatives down to always-on paid social and performance conversion stages.
  • Tech Storytelling Mindset: Exceptional ability to translate sophisticated emerging technologies into clear, simple, and emotionally resonant consumer messaging.

We prefer:

  • International Brand Scaling: Experience expanding and scaling a consumer brand internationally, adapting large-scale marketing campaigns to respect local cultural nuances while maintaining cohesive global standards.
  • Performance Creative Mindset:A proven track record of using creative performance metrics and rapid testing to optimize campaign copy and conversion.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Management:Masterful stakeholder management skills, with a track record of pitching bold creative directions and resolving conflicting stakeholder visions.
  • AI-Multiplier Fluency: Advanced fluency with Generative AI and AI-assisted creative tools, utilizing emerging technologies as a strategic multiplier to accelerate creative ideation and production.
  • Frontier Tech Focus:Direct experience or a passionate curiosity for translating autonomous vehicles, robotics, or frontier technologies into understandable and compelling consumer-facing stories.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Experience collaborating closely with non-marketing partners, including Product, Engineering, and Public Affairs, to align creative work with technical milestones and safety narratives.
