Purpose

The Account Manager, Creative Agency is a strategic leader responsible for managing key AbbVie stakeholder relationships and delivering integrated creative, marketing, and communications solutions across enterprise-wide and high-visibility initiatives. Acting as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, including Executive Leadership Team members, C-suite executives, and Executive Communications teams, this role translates complex business objectives into impactful communications strategies and compelling creative programs that drive business results.

Responsibilities

This position serves as the primary account lead to be able to project manage for assigned clients, providing strategic counsel, relationship management, and oversight of complex, multidisciplinary engagements from concept through execution. The Account Manager partners with creative leadership, agency teams, production vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver initiatives that may include executive and corporate communications, organizational change communications, product launches, disease awareness campaigns, employee engagement programs, sales and marketing materials, digital experiences, events, video and multimedia productions, and other enterprise communications initiatives.

The Account Manager provides direction, coaching, mentorship, and performance management as a people leader for account professionals, project managers, creatives, producers, and other cross-functional team members. This leader establishes clear priorities and expectations, fosters accountability, promotes collaboration and professional growth, and creates an environment where innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service thrive.

The Account Manager is also responsible for driving business growth and operational excellence by identifying new opportunities, expanding strategic partnerships, managing agency resources effectively, overseeing financial performance and budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with AbbVie quality and compliance standards. Success in this role requires exceptional executive presence, strong business acumen, outstanding communication and influencing skills, and the ability to lead confidently in complex, fast-paced, and highly visible environments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Design, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in account management, client services, or account leadership within a creative, advertising, communications, consulting, or in-house agency environment.
  • Proven experience partnering directly with Executive Leadership Team members, Executive Communications teams, C-suite executives, and senior business leaders.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong expertise in strategic communications, branding, content development, digital communications, marketing, multimedia, and creative program management.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional initiatives, budgets, resource planning, vendor relationships, and executive-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry experience preferred.
