Job Summary

Charter., in partnership with Forge Virtual Studios, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Video Editing Intern who wants to develop their craft in a professional commercial environment.

This role is designed for someone who loves post-production, including organizing footage, assembling edits, refining stories, and preparing final exports. This is a post-production-focused internship rather than a general production or studio operations role. It is an opportunity for an aspiring editor to learn alongside an experienced creative team while contributing to real client work and internal content.

The Video Editing Intern will work closely with the Creative Director and other members of the creative team, supporting projects from media ingestion through final delivery. Projects will be scoped to the intern’s experience level, with regular mentorship and feedback. All client-facing work will be reviewed and approved by the Creative Director or an experienced editor before delivery.


Key Responsibilities


Editing & Post-Production Support

Assist editors with organizing, syncing, labeling, and preparing project media

Create string-outs, selects, rough cuts, and short-form edits under the direction of the Creative Director or an experienced editor

Organize footage, maintain project files, and follow established post-production workflows


Export internal and client review cuts, assist with version management, and prepare deliverables for review and approval

Source music, sound effects, and stock assets when appropriate

Assist with basic color correction, audio cleanup, graphics updates, and finishing tasks as skill level allows

Incorporate creative feedback and make revisions while maintaining organized project versions


Content Support

Edit internal marketing, behind-the-scenes, case-study, and social media content

Create short-form edits for digital platforms

Support revisions based on feedback from the creative and marketing teams

Help maintain an organized media library and archive completed projects

Prepare reusable clips, selects, and assets from completed projects when requested

This role does not include primary responsibility for production crews, studio operations, social media management, or final client approvals. Occasional exposure to productions may be available when it supports the intern’s understanding of the editing process.

Current student or recent graduate pursuing film, media production, editing, communications, or a related field

Strong interest in video editing and post-production

Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro

Basic understanding of editing fundamentals, storytelling, pacing, and continuity

Comfortable receiving feedback and revising creative work

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage footage and project files responsibly

Able to work independently while following established creative direction and workflows

Dependable and able to communicate clearly about progress, questions, and deadlines

Interested in commercial, documentary, branded, and high-quality digital content

Available to work in person at the Hanover Park studio during agreed-upon hours


Nice to Have — Not Required

Experience with Adobe After Effects or DaVinci Resolve

Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, or motion graphics
