Job Description

This position provides engineering and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems.

Responsibilities
  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
  • Provides technical support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited institution; current students may be considered for part-time or temporary employment after completing 3 years of an accredited engineering degree program.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client, or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and the most recent version of AutoCAD design software.
