Job Description

Cricut's Creative Concept team is looking for a talented, innovative Art Director with exceptional creative skills and a relentless desire to delight customers.

This role is customer obsessed and always looking for new ways to engage, inspire, and connect with our growing community. You'll partner with Creative Directors and cross-functional teams to help define creative strategies and tactical approaches that leave customers thinking, "Cricut is for me." You'll develop customer-centric creative that inspires, engages, and converts-creating experiences that build brand affinity and drive sales.

We're looking for someone with proven expertise in developing fresh ideas, building compelling visual concepts, and leading creative execution across multiple product categories and marketing channels. You have the ability to independently translate creative briefs and business objectives into engaging visual concepts and customer-centric experiences that tell a story, strengthen the Cricut brand, and drive sales.

As an Art Director, you'll lead projects from concept through completion by partnering with designers, writers, photographers, producers, and marketers to create cohesive, impactful work. You'll provide creative direction, mentor fellow creatives, articulate design decisions with confidence, and elevate the quality of the work through collaboration, thoughtful feedback, and exceptional craft.

You are organized, flexible, self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You prioritize strategically, communicate effectively, embrace feedback, and are energized by working with an engaged team that values collaboration, innovation, and creative excellence.

Success in this role means creating work that not only looks exceptional but inspires more people to discover what's possible with Cricut and see themselves as makers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Creative Directors and cross-functional teams to help define creative strategies, campaign concepts, and tactical approaches that leave customers thinking, "Cricut is for me."

  • Develop compelling visual concepts that translate creative briefs into customer-focused campaigns, product launches, brand assets, and sales collateral.

  • Lead the visual development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, retail, packaging, social media, and owned channels.

  • Art direct photography, video, illustration, and design projects from concept through final execution, ensuring every deliverable is on brand, visually engaging, and strategically aligned.

  • Collaborate closely with Studio, Multimedia, Design at Scale, Product Marketing, Brand, and other cross-functional teams to create seamless customer experiences across every touchpoint.

  • Partner with the Studio team to ensure creative intent is maintained while supporting production schedules, timelines, and business priorities.

  • Create thoughtful, human-centered creative that goes beyond the obvious and connects emotionally with Cricut's growing and increasingly diverse customer base.

  • Stay curious and identify emerging trends, cultural insights, customer behaviors, and creative opportunities to keep Cricut's work fresh, relevant, and inspiring.

  • Present creative concepts and articulate design rationale clearly and confidently to stakeholders and cross-functional partners.

  • Provide thoughtful creative direction and constructive feedback that elevates the quality of work across the team.

  • Mentor designers and fellow creatives by sharing knowledge, encouraging growth, and fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning.

  • Lead with positivity, accountability, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented mindset while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Illustration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 7+ years of professional creative experience, including at least 3 years as an Art Director leading integrated marketing campaigns. This is not an entry-level Art Director role.

  • Proven experience developing creative strategies, concepting campaigns, and leading visual execution from idea through final delivery.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional art direction, design, typography, visual storytelling, and concept-driven thinking across multiple channels.

  • Experience art directing photography and video productions, including concept development, shot planning, and on-set creative direction.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • A maker's mindset-you lead by example and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves. You're as comfortable creating the work as you are directing others to create it.

  • Strong understanding of branding, design systems, visual communication, and customer-centered design.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative decisions and influence stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor designers and elevate creative through thoughtful feedback, collaboration, and hands-on leadership.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with packaging design and consumer products is a plus.

  • Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced organization is preferred.
