Job description

Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications office at BYU-Hawaii is seeking a talented and capable graphic design intern to work directly with key stakeholders to develop brand collateral for the university and specific university departments.


Over six months, you'll take projects from concept to delivery: production-ready design files and template suites for brochures, posters, digital and physical signage, web graphics, social media, and more. Your work goes directly into active campus use.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type.
  • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.
  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, logos, social media, web, etc.
  • Use computer software to generate new images.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degreerequired.
  • Bachelor of fine arts in visual arts, concentrated in graphic design preferred.
  • Minimum three months of graphic design experience in a professional setting.

Please note that this is an internship opportunity for post-graduates only. You must have graduated within the last 12 months.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Express) and Canva

  • Illustration skills are not required, but they are a plus if you have them!
  • Basic knowledge of copyright laws

  • Project management, setting and meeting deadlines

Physical Demands
