Job description

Studio & Creative Intern

This is an opportunity to experience what it’s actually like to build a small, design-driven ceramics brand from the ground up. You’ll work across studio production, creative development, research, content, and brand operations, with the opportunity to see an idea move from inspiration and sketch to finished ceramic object.

This role is ideal for someone studying or recently graduated in ceramics, fine art, design, fashion, architecture, art history, or a related creative field — or simply someone with a strong point of view and a genuine love for beautiful objects.

What You’ll Do

Studio + Ceramics

  • Assist with day-to-day studio work, including preparing clay, wedging, reclaiming, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the studio
  • Assist with handbuilding, surface decoration, carving, marbling/nerikomi, and other ceramic processes as appropriate
  • Help with kiln loading/unloading, glazing, sanding, finishing, and quality control
  • Assist with preparing pieces for photography, markets, exhibitions, and shipping
  • Help maintain an organized, efficient, and inspiring studio environment

Creative Development

  • Research art, architecture, ceramics, fashion, interiors, food, and cultural references that may inspire future collections
  • Help develop mood boards, visual references, and creative concepts
  • Assist with sketching and early-stage product ideation
  • Research historical objects, decorative arts, and traditional ceramic techniques
  • Contribute ideas — we genuinely want to hear your perspective

Brand + Content

  • Assist with photographing and styling ceramics for social media and the website
  • Help create behind-the-scenes content from the studio
  • Assist with Instagram, Pinterest, and other visual platforms
  • Help organize the studio’s image library and creative assets
  • Assist with product launches, collection development, and storytelling

Studio Operations

  • Help with inventory and product organization
  • Assist with packaging and fulfilling orders
  • Help prepare for pop-ups, markets, exhibitions, and events
  • Support general studio and administrative projects as needed
You Might Be a Great Fit If You…
  • Have a genuine love for ceramics, art, design, fashion, interiors, or beautiful objects
  • Are highly visual and have a strong aesthetic point of view
  • Are curious and excited to learn new techniques
  • Are comfortable getting your hands dirty and doing the less glamorous studio work, too
  • Notice details and care about craftsmanship
  • Are organized, dependable, and able to work independently
  • Have good taste — but aren't afraid to experiment
  • Enjoy research and discovering unexpected sources of inspiration
  • Have strong photography, styling, social media, or graphic design skills (a plus, but not required)
  • Are excited by the idea of helping shape a young creative brand
What You’ll Gain
  • Hands-on experience inside a working ceramics studio
  • Exposure to the full lifecycle of a product, from concept through production and sale
  • Experience with ceramics production and studio management
  • Portfolio-building opportunities
  • Experience in creative direction, product development, styling, and content
  • A behind-the-scenes look at building and growing an independent design brand
  • Mentorship and direct collaboration with the founder
