Job description

Communications Specialist 

KeenLogic is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the Communications & Marketing team at the U.S. House of Representatives, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The Communications & Marketing team develops strategic communications, branding initiatives, marketing campaigns, and customer engagement efforts that support Members, Committees, Leadership Offices, and House support organizations. 

This position plays a critical role in developing and executing communications strategies, creating marketing content, and supporting stakeholder engagement initiatives across the House community.

Position Details 

  • Contract Length: Base year plus two option years (anticipated start of contract in late September/early October) 
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week  
  • Core Hours: Monday – Friday during standard business hours  
  • Location: Washington, DC  

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Business, or related field  
  • 4+ years of marketing and communications experience  
  • Experience in automated systems and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word and PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop and InDesign), content management systems (e.g., Drupal), and content development systems. 

Job Expectations 

  • Knowledge of and ability to implement communications strategies and technology, including but not limited to direct email campaigns, social media, presentations, and written reports. 
  • Ability to develop and implement effective marketing and advertising content, including web content. 
  • Ability to evaluate effectiveness and implement changes as necessary to achieve marketing goals. 
  • Ability to develop concepts and independently create appropriate content. 
  • Skilled in writing, editing, and copywriting. 
  • Skilled in project management. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement communications strategies and technology, including but not limited to intranet, direct email campaigns, social media, presentations, and written reports. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Partners with internal subject matter experts to support their communications goals; develops informative and engaging communications materials. 
  • Assesses, develops, creates, executes, and evaluates communications and marketing campaigns and component materials. 
  • Develops creative and effective communications strategies on complex topics including financial services, information security, information technology, and more. 
  • racks communications for adherence to CAO brand standards and works with stakeholders in a collaborative fashion to bring proposed and existing communications into compliance where necessary. 
  • Creates direct email campaigns. 
  • Initiates and directs meetings to better define customer goals, suggests enhancements to initial customer requests to create efficiencies and maximize impact and budget. 
  • Coordinates web and multimedia content creation including production schedule, tracking, and input for creative activities of in-house and outside organizations; ensures that quality guidelines are met, and projects are completed on time. 
  • Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned.
