Job description

Business Development Managerย

Location:ย [Bloomington, Indiana]
Dealership:ย Royal South Toyota

The Opportunity: Build Your Vision

Are you a BDC Manager or other Sales Pro who has knowledge of the BDC process?ย  ย Royal Southย Toyota is a mid-sized, community-focused dealership looking for a high energy leader to build our Business Development Center from the ground up.

We aren't looking for a "cog in a machine" for a high-volume factory. We need an architectโ€”someone who can design the workflows, select the talent, and establish the culture for a brand-new department that will serve as the heartbeat of our sales and service operations.

Core Responsibilities (The "Build" Phase)

  • Department Design:ย Establish the foundational processes for lead management, including response time standards, multi-channel communication (phone, text, email), and specialized word tracks.
  • Talent Acquisition:ย Recruit and hire your own initial team of BDC Representatives, focusing on quality and "customer-first" personalities over raw volume experience.
  • CRM Configuration:ย Partner with management to optimize our CRM (VinSolutions) for automated follow-up schedules and lead distribution.
  • Interdepartmental Handoffs:ย Design the "road to the sale" and service appointment workflows to ensure a seamless transition from your team to our Sales and Service Advisors.
  • Training & Mentorship:ย Develop a training curriculum that empowers your team to handle objections with empathy and professional persistence.

Ongoing Management (Mid-Size Focus)

  • Quality over Quantity:ย In a mid-sized environment, every lead is gold. You will monitor call quality and lead nurturing to ensure no opportunity is ever "burnt".
  • Strategy Alignment:ย Hold weekly meetings with Sales and Service Managers to align BDC campaigns withย Toyota national incentivesย and local inventory.
  • Reporting:ย Track and present key metrics such as appointment show rates and lead-to-sold ratios to the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Automotive Sales especially Internet Sales experience preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit:ย You must be comfortable with ambiguity and have the drive to "own" the department's success from day one.
  • Toyota Expertise preferred but not necessary.
  • Leadership:ย Ability to lead by exampleโ€”you aren't afraid to jump on the phones to show your team how it's done.

What We Offer

  • Creative Freedom:ย The rare chance to build a department exactly how you believe it should run.
  • Competitive Pay:ย Base salary plus a percentage of department profit
  • Full Benefits:ย Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match.
  • Stability:ย We are a mid-sized, family-oriented store that values long-term relationships over "burn and turn" staffing.
