Job Title: Â Program Specialist-Brain Gain Â
Department: Â Club Â
Reports to: Â Program DirectorÂ
FLSA Status: Â Â Non-ExemptÂ
Function: Looking for a Certified Teacher to Lead Summer Brain Gain
The program is comprised of weekly modules with themed activities for elementary school members. Â
- A fun, but educational program that aims to prevent summer learning loss;Â
- Keeps kids on track for the upcoming school year. Â
- Each module takes a project-based learning approach;Â Â
- Youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work and a final project or production.Â
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive)Â
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.Â
- Ensure engagement, promote and stimulate participation, and consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.Â
- Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members and overall direction for their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement and academic progressÂ
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities. Â
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all time. Â
- Engaging members in activities successfully and provide a safe environment for members.Â
- Support members emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts successfully. Â
- Plan and facilitate purposeful and engaging activities and group projectsÂ
- Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets and other administrative dutiesÂ
- Participate in training and staff development activities.Â
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club staff meetings.Â
- Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; collaborate; and advise/counsel.Â
- Mandatory cleaning set up and closes down of program area on a daily basis.Â
Requirements
 POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (not all inclusive)Â
- This position is part time.Â
- High School diploma or equivalent.Â
- Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is requiredÂ
- Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferredÂ
- CPR and First Aid Certifications preferredÂ
- Valid State Driver's LicenseÂ
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug testÂ
- Experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.Â
- Experience and ability in creating interactive and educational activitiesÂ
- Strong Organization, Time Management Skills and ability to set PrioritiesÂ
- Obtain strong Work Ethic, Positive Attitude, High Level of Energy and Flexibility Â
- Strong communication, Interpersonal skills, and Attention to DetailÂ
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problemsÂ
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youthÂ
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environmentÂ
- Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.Â
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Â
- Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment.Â
- Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds during a standard 4 or 8 hour shift.Â
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Â
- Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.Â
- The noise level in the work environment is high due to work is conducted in a Club setting, indoor/outside.Â
 It is the policy of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment. All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening. No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies. Â
