Job description

Dermalogica is looking for a highly motivated strategic, analytical, and creative Assistant Brand Manager to join our Canadian Marketing team. The individual in this position will be responsible for supporting brand strategy development, spearheading the execution of retail marketing programs, and merchandising (in-store and online) while leading cross-functional teams. Reporting to the Brand Manager, the Assistant Brand Manager, Retail is responsible for executing brand strategies and identifying growth opportunities within the Canadian market. This role is accountable for supporting delivery of retail sales targets and contributing to growth of key accounts. A high degree of project management skills and attention to detail are required.

Key Responsibilities:


To carry out a varied selection of duties within the Marketing department but not limited to:

  • Supports the Brand Manager in the development of annual marketing strategies
  • Leads the execution of key initiatives across the retail channel, including new product launches, trade promotions, and visual merchandising programs for flagship locations, Sephora, and student stores
  • Measures and reports performance of executions, assessing against clear goals (ROI and set KPIs)
  • Shares insights with stakeholders while actioning learnings to further drive growth of the business
  • Identifies blank space opportunities through sales data, competitive insights/trends, new product information, etc.
  • Participates in the planning and directing of brand image consistency in visual merchandising, brand/promotional materials, and activations
  • Assists in managing overall brand health and leading SKU management through ownership of new SKU creation procedures and UPC forms
  • Manages launch adaptation from global assets to local market relevance and activation
  • Owns material development for English and French Canada including point of sale displays, sales presenters, education calendars, event support, collateral, etc.
  • Ensures strong merchandising tools are implemented at store level
  • Coordinates online merchandising, providing copy and assets for relevant retailers
  • Collaborates with the digital team to aid in the development of the social media calendar and content creation/pitching for retail channels
  • Partners with PR to stay abreast of earned, organic and press activity to share with retail partners
  • Works with the Education team to ensure that product training pieces are effectively rolled out to key accounts and their Professional Skin Therapists
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing dialogue with U.S. and International marketing counterparts to leverage brand and project harmonization
  • Assists the Brand Manager with forecast planning for B launches and promotional activities
  • Tracks competitor activity as well as category trends and provides feedback internally
  • Visits accounts and attends business events to gain a deeper understanding of the market
  • Ad hoc projects as needed


Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree (Business, Marketing, or related field)
  • 2-4 years of brand management experience preferably in retail environment (prestige/luxury beauty is ideal)
  • Exceptional English verbal/written communication and presentation skills; French bilingual a plus but not essential
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of independence and resilience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible and adaptable mindset
  • Professional with strong project management skills; ability to think critically and creatively
  • High level of accuracy; able to detect inconsistencies and errors with keen attention to detail
  • Strong collaborative skills; ability to work efficiently within a team environment
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills; ability to gather critical data, translate analysis of an opportunity to resulting goals, and develop POV/recommendation
  • Positive attitude with an excitement for learning; open to new experiences and challenges
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience using SketchUp and Power BI is an asset


Working conditions and requirements

  • Hybrid office work schedule at 60% in downtown Toronto office.
  • Core office hours between 10am and 4pm within your 8 hour day.
  • Live in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Working at events and trade shows may require evenings and weekends as business dictates and with notice.
