This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
You will play an active role in both field and office work, gaining handson experience while continuing to develop your technical expertise under the guidance of experienced mentors. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with a small, dedicated geotechnical team and senior leadership on public and private sector projects.
  • Collaborating under licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) who serve as mentors and support your professional growth.
  • Performing and overseeing field explorations including test pits, borings, and site evaluations.
  • Coordinating and assigning laboratory testing and reviewing results for accuracy and applicability.
  • Analyzing laboratory data and soil properties to support engineering recommendations.
  • Preparing and contributing to technical geotechnical reports involving foundations, pavements, slopes, retaining structures, and earthwork.
  • Collaborating with related disciplines, including land development, surveying, and transportation-to gain a broad, integrated understanding of project delivery.
  • Applying crossdisciplinary knowledge to develop practical, constructible solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring both technical capability and a collaborative mindset. Required and preferred qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (geotechnical emphasis preferred).
  • Ability to obtain Nevada Professional Engineer registration within four years.
  • Ability to work effectively with a dedicated, teamoriented group.
  • Strong skills in organization, data gathering, and technical analysis.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with clients, contractors, laboratories, and internal teams.
  • A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to continue learning and advancing professionally.
A note on hourly pay ranges
The range does not reflect geographic variations and may fluctuate above or below the stated amount. Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers. If you feel you meet the requirements but may be outside of the pay range, please apply anyway and let's talk through it.
Joining Wood Rodgers comes with perks to support you in your personal and professional journey.
