Position Summary

The CNC Machinist II is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC and manual machining equipment used in the manufacturing of crankshafts, crankshaft accessories, counterweight parts, and related powertrain components. This position performs moderate to advanced machine set-ups, tooling adjustments, offsets, inspections, and quality verification while supporting production efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives in a team-based manufacturing environment.

The CNC Machinist II will operate a variety of machining and inspection equipment while ensuring compliance with all company quality, safety, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC processing machines.
  • Determine processing sequences and develop machining programs within program language requirements.
  • Enter processing data, simulate machining processes, optimize programs, and save machining progress.
  • Test programs step-by-step, inspect first-piece quality, and make process corrections as necessary.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain tool offset lists.
  • Perform tool changes, cutter compensation, and offset adjustments.
  • Prepare, measure, install, and maintain equipment and tooling.
  • Perform simple to moderate machine set-ups independently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and inspection equipment.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, completeness, and surface condition of machined components.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and GD&T requirements.
  • Document production issues, quality concerns, and corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues during production and development activities.
  • Develop and implement rework methods for complex or difficult work pieces.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, process development, and productivity initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining machine performance through basic maintenance and service work.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other operators.
  • Train new personnel in machine operation, safety, quality standards, and production procedures.
  • Prepare material and work orders for production as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines, tools, and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental policies, and job hazard requirements.
  • Comply with company policies, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 โ€“ 4-year technical school degree, apprenticeship, or vocational machining certification.
  • Minimum of 5 โ€“ 10 years of machining and CNC experience.
  • Experience operating CNC equipment including lathes, mills, and specialty machinery.
  • Knowledge of basic math and geometry.
  • Experience with tooling, offsets, tool changes, and machine setups.
  • Knowledge of tooling identification and machining processes.
  • Successful completion of Machine Operating Test.

  • Experience in crankshaft manufacturing operations
  • Siemens 840D CNC control experience
