Job description

The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: Construction Craft Laborer Vocational Teacher
Job Description: The Construction Craft Laborer Vocational Teacher will teach students the design and delivery of woodworking, welding, and masonry standards as outlined in Construction Craft Laborer Vocational Technical Education Frameworks.
Performance Responsibilities:
Create a flexible Construction Craft Laborer program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
Teach Construction Craft Laborer utilizing the course of study adopted by the School Committee and meeting Vocational Technical Education Frameworks
Develop standards based lesson plans and instructional materials in order to adapt the appropriate curriculum
Design lab activities and projects that will allow students to be competitive in the workplace.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment
Establish rapport with students to motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in construction in accordance with each student's ability
Communicate with parents through parent conferences and other means to discuss student progress
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional development that will include course or activities related to instruction
All other responsibilities that are listed in the collective bargaining agreement between the Fall River Educators' Association and the Fall River School Committee
Required Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts Chapter 74 educator's license in Construction Craft Laborer
At least 3 years of teaching experience in related field
Experience, knowledge, and skill regarding the safe demonstration, use, and maintenance of woodworking, welding and masonry equipment
At least 3 years working experience with students from diverse settings
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the teaching and administrative staff
Demonstrated skills in Computer Numeric Control (CNC) woodworking machinery
Demonstrated skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Microsoft Office suite, Aspen X2, and other software applications
Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive work environment
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
Reports To: Principal and Career, Vocational Technical Education Director
Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract.
