Center for Pain and Supportive Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant/Medical Intern to join our team. We treat both cancer-related and chronic pain patients with a multi-modality approach including conventional medical management, interventional procedures, and advances implanted devices. This position will perform both clinical and administrative tasks to assist our healthcare providers and provide high-quality patient care.

We are seeking a motivated individual who is eager to expand their clinical skills while working in a collaborative and patient centered environment. Daily responsibilities include preparing patients and patients charts for office visits, assisting the providers before, during, and after procedures, and performing various administrative tasks such as conducting prior authorizations and documenting medical information into the electronic medical records system.
Responsibilities:
Support providers in delivering comprehensive care to patients with chronic or cancer related pain.
Perform patient intake: obtain vitals, update histories and document in the EHR.
Assist providers during patient visits by accurately documenting clinical information into the patient’s medical record.
Communicate with patients and insurance representatives regarding authorizations and care coordination.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment and supplies.
Assist with interventional in-office procedures.
Proactively handle patient questions or concerns.
Prepare patient’s implanted device for provider visit.
Assist with basic troubleshooting of implanted devices and coordinating for refills or adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with the care team to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients.
Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant OR recent college graduate preparing for graduate level healthcare programs
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task
Compassionate, patient focused, and eager to learn.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Previous healthcare experience is preferred, not required
Previous experience with EHR systems preferred, not required
Availability of 32 hours per week
