Medical Coding Specialist (Remote)

Pay Rate: $28.00/hour

Primarily Remote Opportunity

Monday-Friday | Flexible Start Time Between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coding Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare revenue cycle team. This role is ideal for a certified coding professional with experience in medical appeals, accounts receivable, coding review, and reimbursement analysis.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in resolving denied claims, researching payer policies, reviewing clinical documentation, and ensuring accurate coding and reimbursement. If you have strong analytical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and experience working in Epic, we'd love to connect with you.

What You'll DoDenials & Appeals Management
  • Review and appeal denied claims from commercial and government payers
  • Draft appeal letters and compile supporting documentation
  • Research payer policies, regulations, and reimbursement guidelines
  • Investigate and resolve complex reimbursement issues
Coding & Documentation Review
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment
  • Assign and validate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and Evaluation & Management (E/M) codes
  • Ensure diagnoses and procedures are properly documented and linked
  • Identify coding opportunities and areas of documentation improvement
Revenue Cycle & Accounts Receivable Support
  • Work Epic billing work queues and CRM tasks
  • Review remittance advice for payment accuracy and denials
  • Perform charge corrections as needed
  • Update insurance and demographic information within the billing system
  • Support AR follow-up and collections activities
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with providers, coding teams, and revenue cycle colleagues to resolve payer issues
  • Provide guidance on medical terminology, coding practices, and policy interpretation
  • Assist with special revenue cycle projects and initiatives
Required Qualifications

Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) certification OR RHIT/RHIA certification

✅ Experience in one or more of the following:
