Alta Genetics is adding to their globally renowned sales team in the Western New York markets. We are looking for a passionate and proven business consultant that will be "boots on the ground" in the territory and focused on delivery of value-added genetic solutions and programs, building the dairy herd customer portfolio. You will also be responsible for building relationships and rapport with existing customers and focused on retention. 

In this role, you will be focused on large-herd growth (new relationships with large producers), support with herd management software and helping dairymen in a technical sense. You will also manage inventory counts/ordering, invoicing and working with support staff to ensure we are operating effectively and providing exemplary service to our farmers, producers and industry partners.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell Alta's genetics, related products and services
  • Provide an excellent and efficient experience to clients
  • Evaluate and assess customer accounts and product offerings for continuous improvement
  • Increase Alta's market share through existing customer base and core business of large herds
  • Prospect, develop, and manage new business
  • Promote Alta products and services at local and regional dairy events
  • Review monthly sales reports
  • Manage expenses, inventory, and accounts receivable 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Dairy Science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. 
  • Experience in dairy or beef genetics, reproduction services, or livestock sales is preferred  
  • Must have exceptional relationship building and communication skills
  • Self-starter, results oriented and driven by developing win-win solutions
  • In depth genetic knowledge and familiarity with dairy management software programs are considered assets
  • Considerable (local) travel is required
